About these results

When do the 2026 local election results come out?
Voting stations closed at 21:00 on Wednesday 4 November 2026, and the IEC publishes results as voting districts are counted. This page refreshes by itself. Every result is marked as not final until it's declared.
How do I see the results for my ward?
Use your location, type your municipality and ward number, or pick your province, municipality and ward. You can then switch between your ward and your whole municipality.
Where do these results come from?
From the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC)'s published results. A ward's page shows votes on the ward ballot, which decides its seat, and a ward is only shown as won once the IEC's seat data says so. A municipality's totals add the ward and party ballots together, because both fill its council.
Does winning a ward mean a party runs the municipality?
No. Winning a ward wins one council seat. Who runs the council depends on all its seats, and if no party has a majority, parties may form a coalition.
